12: BU#12 Emotions Unsilenced: From pain and shame to a tool for healing and transformation. Wisdom from the Path with Janet & Vicki
Conversations and Wisdom from the Path
Janet and Vicki explore the messages they received as young people around emotions and how that cultural conditioning influenced how we each perceived emotions and used emotions in our early lives. Showing emotion has been seen as a source of weakness and shame. These harmful messages kept Janet and Vicki stuck in pain in each of their own unique ways.
Then the teachings of Michael Singer and Eckhart Tolle began to help each of them perceive emotions in a new way. These teaching brought new meaning to emotions and new words to describe what happened to the trapped emotions inside of us. Michael Singer speaks of Samskaras and Tolle of the Pain Body.
Unfelt-emotions stay stuck and trapped in the energy field of the body. Each time a person, place, or thing “touches” that stuck emotion it triggers us. In this episode, Janet and Vicki talk about how they have learned to process and feel those emotions and how doing so have brought each of them deep healing in themselves and the relationships around them.

11: BU#11 How A Power Struggle with my “Kiddo” Changed my Life with Kathy Whitham
“I will hear myself above the noise, I will hear my voice above the opinions of others, I will listen and I will hear me.”
In Today’s Episode, I interviewed Kathy Whitham, Child Behavior Specialist. We dig deep into how the power struggle with her child launched her on a new path of uncovering how the family dynamic in her childhood home shaped her adult behavior – and how understanding that has led to her career in helping parents and caregivers get underneath the behavior of their child to really understand where that behavior originates from.
Kathy openly shares how growing up in a family home where she experienced a lot of love and security yet there was a triangulation and feeling caught between parents that were not a good fit for each other impacted her. It gave her insight to see that a depressed parent can be experienced by a child as neglect and it leads to a quiet trauma that impacts negatively the ability for resilience. As an adult, she learned how this impacted her and awakened when she went through a 2nd divorce where she came face to face with her desire to rescue, control, and fix another person.
We don’t change habits and dynamics by wishing them away. There is real work that needs to be done internally.
Change only comes when you are ready to face reality head-on. Alanon helped Kathy begin to sort out what she could not control and she was ready to reclaim her voice.
Her healing journey led her to Her path guides such as Brene Brown that taught her the physiology of when shame shows up and family constellation work that shows how the dynamic of past generations influences us today.
She also studied trauma and attachment and how it impacts stability. She began to build empathy and detachment and to validate that there was room for all of the feelings she had.
Today she uses all of this life wisdom her No-Yell parenting approach! She has created a special video on resilience just for this audience! – you can get it by emailing her at kathy@parentingbeyondwords.com with the subject line: Unsilenced Resilience!

7: BU #7 Feeling Stuck is a Sign to Let go of This so You Can Embrace Greater Happiness
In this episode, Vicki shares how different life looks when we can relax and let go of fixed thinking that keeps us stuck in a prison of our own creation. What if the only mode of communication that you used today was the telephone that your mother used when you were a child?
Our mind is limited in it’s ability to perceive and see future options. It can only create combinations of options from what it can see right in front of it. Experiencing trauma as a child or an adult adds another layer of limited perception. It’s like shopping for clothes but seeing your only option as the 3 outfits featured in the store window.
The truth is these outfits may not even be ideal for you – yet if these outfits become the only options we allow ourselves to choose from we miss out on all of the amazing opportunities that lay just on the other side of opening the door to the store.
Expanding our perception and thinking are not skills most of us were taught as a child yet if we don’t learn these skills we stay trapped in the prison of our own limited thinking.
Opening up to new opportunities and possibilities allows us to connect to who we really are and to move in the direction of living an Unsilenced Life – A life where who we are on the inside exactly matches who we are on the outside.
You too can move beyond what keeps you stuck and discover the greatest potential waiting for you on the other side of the bars of limited thinking.
